Stand at Bovey Craft Fair

Once again Devon Furniture Makers had a stand at the Bovey Craft Fair.

This was the fifth contemporary craft fair to be held at Bovey Tracey which once again followed the trend of growing in popularity and quality, even being compared to"Origin", the annual London craft fair organised by the Crafts Council.  This year 8,000 visitors attended,visiting the extensive complex of marquees housing some of the country's most innovative and skilled jewellers,ceramicists,furniture-makers,glassmakers,weavers,silversmiths,toy-makers and leather-workers. Great interest was shown in our stand which showed a very small representation of the varied work produced by our members.Many flyers publicising our forthcoming Summer Exhibition at Dartington College of Arts Gallery in August were taken.

The stand was manned on a rota basis giving some of us the chance to chat to the many visitors about furniture making in general and discuss possible commissions.

The weekend really seemed to fly by, coming to an end all too soon when our stand was dismantled and packed away ready for next year!
