Website improvements

In May 2009 the Devon Furniture Makers Association made some improvements to this website.

We now have an interactive map whereby you can see the location of each of our members relative to some of Devon's major towns and roads as well as Dartmoor and Exmoor.  Each red dot on the map indicates one of our members. Clicking on the dot will take you to the individual pages of each maker, to show you examples of their work and giving you their contact details.

Our News page has also been adapted to now also contain the most up to date information on Exhibitions held by Devon Furniture Makers, either as a group or individually.

The Devon Furniture Makers website promotes and keeps people up to date with the goings on in the world of handcrafted furniture being produced by 14 designer-makers from all over the County. The website is a real “Devon” affair – having been part funded by Broadband4Devon and developed by John Maxwell at The Pig Farmer Designs a web design company also based in Devon.

The website is full of beautiful images of the stunning work created by designer-craftsman who have each helped to give Devon a well-established reputation as being a hot-bed of design and craft talent. The website is easily navigable and gives you the opportunity to search for a maker based on their name, the furniture types they make, as well as their location in either North, South, East or West Devon. It is the ideal starting point for someone who has just purchased his or her dream home in Devon and wants to fill it with beautiful furniture. A simple guide to commissioning furniture is included in the website and each maker’s individual pages shows off their individual styles and gives you the chance to contact the maker in question directly, or visit their own website for more information.

The Website provides a useful tool for people in Devon and beyond who want something a little bit special for their home. The Devon Furniture Makers all welcome informal chats to discuss ideas that people might have for a particular space in their home and can cater for a variety of budgets.
