Tjeerd Hendel-Blackford MSDC gives his clients the chance to own a unique work of art that can be used on a day-to-day basis and will become a family heirloom. As each piece is designed and made according to your desires and specifications, each piece of furniture will be unique. Tjeerd is a Member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and is listed on the Crafts Council's National Register of Makers.
Hendel-Blackford Fine Furniture aims to provide its clients with a unique purchasing experience. The aim is to make the commissioning process a personal, enjoyable and involved one. From start to finish you will be consulted on the progress and creation of your furniture. It is our intention to create bespoke world-class furniture that will be unique and timeless in terms of design and quality.
If you were to express an interest in a particular commission, we would first discuss your ideas and requirements. This would be followed by a meeting in person to discuss your wishes in detail, with a view to establishing a brief and a budget. Following the design process you would be presented with at least two options to consider, on the basis of the brief you have provided. You would also have the opportunity to choose from various samples of wood, before we would provide you with a final quote for the piece in question. All of our pieces are (discreetly) stamped with the Hendel-Blackford logo and the year in which the piece was made.
We are keen to protect natural resources wherever possible. As a result we only obtain timber from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved timber merchants. In addition, we will plant a tree for every piece of furniture we make.

The Winter's End Chest of Drawers, named after the barn conversion of the clients for whom this was made, is one of a set of two chests of drawers made in solid burr, pippy, brown and plain native oak, as well as cedar of Lebanon for draw linings and back panels. St. Ann's Writing Desk. An elegant writing desk and chair made in native brown oak. The desk also features cedar of lebanon, and Italian leather. The desk and chair were commissioned by the Vicar of the Church of St. Ann for him to write his sermons on. The desk features 5 drawers - four smaller ones as part of the desk tidy and one large one which slides out from underneath the desk top. All drawers are hand-dovetailed and lined with cedar. The Hendel-Blackford Picture Frame. Unique picture frames in sycamore and walnut. The frames were initially designed and made as a wedding gift for friends - but have since proved immensely popular.
